The Daily Bagel -- Origin story

Origin issue: How it all began

This story begins like most of The Daily Bagel blog posts: Sitting at our local Panera, me and some friends were just meeting up for food and conversation. This was before we all moved away to different areas and states, following our own paths away from each other.
"I always go after the wrestlers," I laughed and introduced the topic that would segway to the creation of The Daily Bagel.
Patrick, JJ, Pearse, Kyle, Jacob and Lexi (co-founders of The Daily Bagel) all teased me, inquiring why wrestlers as opposed to soccer players or golfers.
"Why don't you get a journalist like you?" Patrick asked.
That just didn't make sense, because of course I'm into the strong, athletic kind. This fact got Patrick thinking-- What about Spider-Man? He was a journalist and a superhero, both smart and strong; the total package. This was in theory the perfect romance, aside from the fact that Spider-Man is hardly a tangible option in my love life.
"Ugh," I groaned. "Why can't my boyfriend just be more like Spider-Man or something?"
This obviously became the inspiration for the main series within The Daily Bagel; and we can thank Pearse for that, as his response to my rhetorical question was that I should write about the comparison of the average love life as opposed to a relationship with Spider-Man.
"Submit it to The Daily Bugle," Kyle laughed in reference to the New York City newspaper for which Peter Parker works.
"No," Jacob said and smirked, holding up his cinnamon crunch Panera bagel. "The Daily... Bagel."
This made me laugh, but it is also what made me see everything coming together.
"You know what they say about a daily bagel," JJ said. "A bagel a day keeps somethin' away."
     Lexi smiled, amused.
"Your local source for all news everywhere," she said.
This gathering, though casual as it was, led to this blog. It's a small blog, hardly viewed outside of my family and close friend group; but it means a lot to me. Why? Because no matter where our paths lead or how far away we drift, this memory will always keep us together. This is our Daily Bagel.
